WORKSHOPS

1. Knowing God in Times of Pain and Hurt (Pastor Ann Chan)

Healing of past wounds in the grace and power of God
The psalmist wrote in Ps 119:71, “It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.” Beyond the experience of pain and hurt is the unseen hand of God shaping, molding and making the man and woman of God. This workshop seeks to reflect and restore our faith in God, that we may find healing in His wings.

2. Knowing God in Times of Stress and Pressure (Rev Tan Kay Kiong)

Coping with life’s pressures in the peace of God
Life is punctuated by stress and pressure points. This is normal and necessary.  Even Jesus had His fair share (Lk 12:50). But if we are not careful, these can become chronic problems. Come and learn in this workshop how to turn pressure points into turning points. We will work at recognizing the external signs, realizing the internal signs and repeating the winning strategies.

3. Knowing God in Times of Decision and Uncertainty (Elder Barney Lau)

Decision-making and the will of God
In life, we are often required to make decisions despite ambiguity and uncertainty. It’s hard enough to make good and right decisions in a regular situation, what more decisions in line with the will of God in a time of uncertainty? How do I do that? What does it mean to know the will of God? And what if I disagree? This workshop aims to offer biblical perspectives and realistic pragmatics as we grapple with these questions.

4. Knowing God in Times of Doubt and Confusion (Rev Dr Chua Chung Kai)

Dealing with intellectual doubt and the wisdom of God
It’s easy to “believe” in God when things are going well. When happens when circumstances and situations turn bad? Is it wrong for Christians to doubt? Should we put on a brave front and simply “trust” God? How can a good God allow bad things to happen? Doesn’t He care? This workshop deals with the age-old problem of evil in a fallen world – how we are to understand evil and respond not just with our minds but with our hearts in the midst of doubt and confusion.

5. Knowing God in Times of Failure and Setback (Dr Geoff Gorsuch)

Redefining success and coping with failure
As we stare failure in the face, we need biblical wisdom on the art of moving from "Why me?" to "What next?" This workshop will explore our life-long journey of faith by looking at the difference between "facts" and "truth", and human perception vs. Biblical Reality. We will look at the significance and effects of perceived failure, and how we can use such "disappointments" to step into a greater awareness of who God is and what He wants to do for us.

6. Knowing God in Times of Leadership Challenges and Crisis (Rev Tony Yeo)

Leading with an upward focus
Leaders come to know God, lead best and grow most in times of leadership challenges and crisis. That seems to be God's prime pedagogy. Not because God gets His kicks out of our distress, but because in such situations – knowing I don't know enough – I put aside my stubbornness and pride and drop my defensive posture to learn. Bill Hybels, a noted leader of one of the largest churches in the world, points out, “The toughest leadership challenge is always yourself.” Come and learn how our character can be developed, the soul strengthened, the vision cleared, the ambition inspired and success achieved in the eyes of our Master Lord Jesus Christ, through leadership challenges and crisis.

Workshops are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
